How much fun can two people have? Part trey

What better way to end the last vacation before traveling becomes infinitely more complicated than a trip to one of America's greatest cities with Mom and Am?

I was determined to make this trip to see Am in Chicago before the baby comes so that we could see as much of the city as possible in a few days without baby logistics and without having to defer to the baby's schedule at every turn.

Admittedly the trip started out a little rough...Am was gracious enough to give up her bed to Mom and me, which sounded like a great idea at the time...

The bedtime conversation went something like this....

"Goodnight Brandy. Do you snore? Don snores the loudest and I have to wake him to make him stop."
"No Mom, I don't snore. Do you?"
"No, I don't think so."
"Don't worry, I'll wake you up if you do."
"No, I can wait until morning to find out."

Fifteen minutes later Mom is sawing logs and I am wide awake! I try a little nudge to get her to roll over, no luck, she wakes up briefly and falls right back to sleep, snores and all within minutes. Meanwhile I'm staring at the ceiling fan pondering how she made it to 60 without ever being told she snores! I was fairly certain she and Don had been sleeping in the same room, apparently Don has no trouble with snoring, his or Mom's. Around 2am it was all I could take so Am was rudely awakened on the futon, "Go sleep with Mom, she snores, I'll stay with the cat."

Cat and I got along famously on the futon for the rest of the weekend! Despite the fact that every time I woke up Cat was staring at me. A little creepy, but she's only six pounds, so I wasn't too worried.

The first day we took advantage of the beautiful weather to see the Lake Michigan, Wrigley Field, and Loyola.

A well rested Am and Mom!

Chilly Lake Michigan. Too bad we forgot our swim suits, or we could have started a polar bear club.

It was a good thing we spent the first day seeing the outdoor sights, because the next two days poured downed rain and made for perfect days to see the museums.

We started out at the planetarium and saw really cool exhibits about the big bang and the planets.

Mom taking a brief rest before we continued to the natural history museum.

The Natural History Museum

We could have spent the entire two days in the natural history museum and still not have seen everything. The museum is absolutely huge. We made it through Egyptian mummies and Ancient America at a comfortable pace before having to leave for closing. Both exhibits were really well done and interesting.

The next day we went to the special Edvard Munch exhibit at the Chicago Art museum. This was particularly exciting for me because I have a copy of "The Scream" at my house and think his paintings are really interesting. The exhibit was great and Mom treated us to headphones in order to listen to the guided tour. I've never used the headphones at a museum, but I will from now on. The information was very well presented and admittedly I can only read a few dozen of the captions next the paintings before starting to skip and get bored with them. I have no pictures of this adventure since security frowns on taking pictures of priceless paintings.

We finished up the day with a blitz through the Chicago conservatory. We arrived 15 minutes before closing and hurried through with cameras held up to our faces capturing as many pictures as possible.

Chicago Conservatory

All in all a wonderful girls' weekend in Chicago! Am was an excellent tour guide and Mom made certain we never went hungry.

From last blog's poll I gather nobody's NCAA basketball bracket is doing very well! Most people chose Louisville. No one chose UNC and I didn't even think of putting Michigan State on as one of the options. Sadly when Uconn lost to MSU and UNC beat 'Nova, I lost to Hubby, so there won't be any Mesa Grill in my future anytime soon, bummer!

This blog's poll, since baseball season is here, what is your favorite ball park food?

Come on now!! I've told her time and again that she snores, but she never admits to it. Thanks for backing me up. You guys look like it was a great girls weekend out. I painted.

I had so much fun! From start to finish- And are you sure I snore? Maybe not? Probably just breathing hard?
I can't wait for my trip to Las Vegas!

You know what they say Brandy....if it's not one thing....it's your mother!

I've slept in the same bed with my mom too and while she doesn't snore, if I move a tiny inch at all during the night she smacks me! :)

Looks like a great trip!
