Couple confirms...

Couple confirms long held scientific belief that copulating leads to pregnancy!

After several years of attempting immaculate conception we switched to copulation, and much to our delight, it works! Hubby and I had heard of immaculate conception growing up and figured it was at least worth a try. Said Hubby, "On our wedding night we decided to give immaculate conception a shot. You have no idea how many nights I've spent wide awake staring at my wife wondering if it was working. The stress was immense."


A few months ago we figured maybe immaculate conception worked for some, just not for us, so we switched techniques. We spent several weeks researching various methods to become pregnant and finally settled on copulation.

Hubby was relieved, "Who knew?" An added plus, he "could finally get a good night's sleep."


We trust the OB that at the bottom of my uterus is a 5.09 cm munch-kin with a normal heartbeat. At 5.09 cm, it's no wonder the baby is attached to my uterus, otherwise I feel certain I would misplace such a tiny baby. We had difficulty interpreting the sonogram at first, but with a little concentration, we figured it out! We won't know the sex of the baby until late January, fortunately, team affiliation develops early in the first trimester.

No need to worry about birthday presents for Hubby or I in 2009, this baby is projected to make land fall 8 June.

To answer potential questions...
1) Yes we will find out the sex.
2) No we don't have names, Hubby refuses to expend energy wrestling over names for both sexes when chances are the baby will be one or the other.
3) No morning sickness for me! Morning bloating that sends me looking for my best sweats.
4) Of course I was joking about not needing birthday gifts, my birthday is 10 June and Hubby's is 18 June.

From last blog's poll, I'm not alone in believing "When Harry Met Sally" is the best all time romantic comedy, coming with 55% of the votes. "The Princess Bride", "Sleepless in Seattle", and "Can't Buy Me Love" also received votes, but not many.

A Ball for All?

Well, that's what I was dreaming about the night before....but Hayes without a nap and Reeder with 102 temperature had other games in mind!


"Don't even think about sitting next to me Aunt B! Talking and eye contact are out of the question as well."


"Okay sis, here's the plan...you spike a fever and I'll cry all night. I'll stop crying long enough for Mommy to doze off and then you ask for a glass of water!" "Perfect Hayes, we'll condition our parents to detest their 'alone time', what a bunch of baloney!"



"Mommy, you'll pay for this night out and so will everyone involved!!!"


The Kappel's looking great! I'll recommend that for next year's Ball, you take your after party clothes with you to the Ball to prevent a return trip to the hotel room!

I'm not sure when the 10:30pm crying session ended, but I do know that the 3:30am crying session had breaks long enough for me to doze off and believe that the worst was over, only for a rested Hayes to begin again. I think the only people that can sleep while Hayes is crying are Hayes and Reeder. They were both remarkably cherry in the morning...or perhaps it was a victory celebration.

"No hard feelings Aunt B, a girl's gotta do, what a girl's gotta do. I can't have my folks thinking date night should be a weekly, or even yearly occurrence, ya know?" With a little coaxing from from Clinton, I even got a good-bye hug!

I had a fun time seeing everyone and it was well worth the trip to Laughlin, maybe next year my brother's Marines will get serious and have their Ball in the gambling capital of the world instead of some postage stamp in between.

As for last week's poll, the majority chose "Thanksgiving +1" or later. There was a tie between "Thanksgiving +1" and "Never", that's what I get for putting sarcasm in the possible answers. One person chose "Halloween +1", which I'm guessing came from either my father-in-law or sister-in-law, because I've never met anyone who loves Christmas more than either of them. We're talking multiple trees, over the top decorations, shopping that began 26 December 2007, and cooking galore! I can't wait to see them (and the rest of my Massachusetts friends and family) over Christmas this year!

This week, I'm curious if there is any consensus on the best romantic comedy ever. I did limit the possible choices to 1980's movies and later. If you love something not on the list, put it in the comments. I thought the choice was obvious, "When Harry Met Sally", but Don feels otherwise. It's okay if he's wrong sometimes, as long as he doesn't make it a habit!

My Georgia Peach

There is such thing as color in Las Vegas, you just have to provide it yourself. When Hubby was courting me, rather than duel any other suiters, he brought me a Georgia Peach rose bush to replace the tree in the front lawn that broke in half during a high wind (think Vegas tree, it was only 4 inches in diameter). He further impressed me by planting the rose bush and ensuring it would survive.

During the summer, the rose struggles in our 100+ temperature, but now that it has cooled down to the 80's (nope, not a type-0), it is flourishing. The other day I counted at least 20 buds ready to bloom! Here are a few pics I took....

As for last blog's poll, first, thanks to those who noticed I used the wrong "sheik", good work, I was informed the appropriate form was "chic"! In any event, the poll was widely split, almost even, no choice received more than 2 votes. Chic American cities was the only choice to receive no votes and considering many of my family are living in these cities, there would be no need for you to vacation to there. I chose camping in the mountains, but would happily partake in any vacation available, and am eagerly awaiting a Thanksgiving vacation to a mountain cabin in Yosemite.
