We've decided to join the millions of parents who celebrate holidays with their children well before the little ones have any awareness of the reason for celebration! We were encouraged to celebrate by the multiple Halloween outfits from Aunt Annie.
Hubby was quick to complain that he had to fish these pumpkins out of a box in Wal-Mart rather than visit a pumpkin farm as he did in Massachusetts growing up. I pointed out that it was 40 degrees and raining in Mass, while here in Vegas our "fall" is 80 and sunny.
Think we're over-reaching? Hubby picked up a pumpkin carving kit and we decided to give the patterns a try. We weren't sure if it would be disastrous of phenomenal...

Mikayla was unable to participate in this final shot due to a bedtime before sunset and when she gets up at 2am to eat the last thing on my mind is lighting jack-o-lanterns and having a photo shoot.
Now part of Hubby's inspiration was that I promise to let people vote on their favorite jack-o-lantern, so please vote in the poll. From left to right the jack-o-lanterns are "Sleepy Hollow", "Lil' Pumpkin", and "Double Whammy".
P.S. - Contrary to what the pictures might leave you to believe, Mikayla smiles a lot and is a very happy baby, but doesn't respond to "Sweetie smile so I can take your picture" yet, so I'll have to work on having the camera handing when she is smiling because it is quite the sight, very cute!

Well, Mikayla looks about as enthusiastic about pumpkins as her Grandpa Don-(He's still grumbling a bit about going "apple picking- and pumpkins picking" next weekend- but I didn't let him vote when the plans were being made- so he's in.
But your pumpkins are impressive! Way to go- not sure I've seen any quite so good. I think there might be some career opportunities- would be a little seasonal though.
But my favorite pic by far is the one with Mikayla and the three pumpkins! I love you it!

Wow! They look great! They put our pumpkins to shame! Mikayla is too cute in her halloween outfits!
OK, maybe I am an old humbug about these holidays, but I am also a traditionalist, so in my mind a jack-o-lantern needs to be two eyes, a nose, and a mouth. Our eyes and nose were usually triangles just because it was hard to carve anything fancy with a big butcher knife. I don't think Mikayla is necessarily unhappy, she is just trying to analyze all of this pumpkin carving and trying to relate it to All Saint's Day. It can be confusing.
evan wants to have a family vote of who's pumpkins are better. (although mikayla's will still probably win.)

I had to vote for Sleepy Hollow because of the carving detail (and the literary tie), but the little pumpkin IS the cutest! (Aside from Mikayla, that is!)
She is adorable! Such a precious little face and I cant wait to meet her and see you too!
