The idea for her costume came from Grammy during our visit to North Carolina. Grammy recognized Mikayla's "slight" obsession with puppies and suggested she would make a great puppy for Halloween. Then Hubby suggested we have the family seamstress create an original, and thus, Grama was requested to put her sewing skills to work. Grama was even nice enough to personally deliver her Halloween original to Las Vegas.
It's nearly impossible to get a picture of Grama without her camera!
Grama helped incorporate a little cultural awareness during finger painting.

This little girl loves her Grama!

We had a great girls weekend with Grama and can't wait to see her in three short weeks over Thanksgiving!
After Grama left we had to finish getting ready for Halloween, so a little family pumpkin carving was in order.
Helping give directions to Daddy.

Works of art! The bat is mine, Mikayla's is the ghost, and the goblin is Daddy's.

And then we set the jack-o-lanterns on fire in the bedroom!
Two weeks after Grama left, the big day arrived and Mikayla morphed into a puppy, ready to accept all candy offerings (to give to Mommy and Daddy of course!)

What a sport, she even wore the puppy ears!

That's right, it's not just 4th of July that Hubby and I dress alike! In order to finish the race in this lovely grassed area the last seven miles of the bike was up hill! Oh what we'll do for a little greenery in the desert!

A week later it was Daddy's turn to run a half marathon!
Mikayla and I entertain ourselves while Daddy gets brutalized on a SERIOUSLY steep course out to the Hoover Dam and back.
We cheered on Daddy to a 4th place overall finish and 1st in his age group! Yeah!
So, what does Mikayla do when she's not devoting every minute to planning Halloween? She wakes up obnoxiously early on Saturday's to support Mommy and Daddy in their semi-obsession with triathlon and road racing!

Now Mikayla gets a little break in the action until the Thanksgiving fun begins!

I had such a wonderful, wonderful time! Mikayla is so much fun - well you are to Brandy- but then you don't get into fingerpainting quite so much!
And those pumpkins are so, so, so good. Congratulations to the master artist!
Can't wait to see you so very soon.
Grama
PS- I'm delighted Mikayla is taking Puppy with her to bed:)
Mikayla seems to have done a wonderful job on those pumpkins, but I am still a little confused about igniting them in your bedroom!! Great pictures that appear to be motion influenced. We will have lots of puppies here for her over Thanksgiving. There will be three counting Caymen and they all love little girls. I am also expecting first place finishes in the turkey trot. You guys are awsome.
Great blog...LOVE her costume..she is so lucky to have such a gifted grama!! So proud of Mikayla's parents for all their efforts in racing. I ama in agreement with Don regarding the ingition in the bedroom..but who am I to ask! We are all fortunate to have such a great family in our lives.
Love,
Grammy Maggie
