Spoiled Happy

The trip started out a little rough. I underestimated Mikayla's "stranger anxiety" and didn't take time to re-introduce Mom and Don to the little one before making the 30 minute trip home from the airport. Huge mistake! I figured after a little obligatory crying we could enjoy a quiet baby, no such luck, she screamed the entire way home, hardly a break to catch her breath. Mom was thinking it was going to be a long week. Fortunately once I held her a little bit she seemed to sense that Grama and Granpa were here for her and she instantly broke into smiles. Whew, that was close!

First thing first, Grama gave Mikayla her new beautiful, handmade, soft, pretty, unique, baby blanket, it was an instant hit.

"I love it Grama!"

We spent one afternoon at a near by state park for a little walk.

The highlight of their trip was the hike at Red Rocks. It was a beautiful day, in fact it was beautiful their entire trip, 60's and sunny.

The dogs were almost as spoiled as Mikayla with Don around, here they point out the pretty rocks.

For the entire week Grama made Mikayla the center of her universe. I don't think you can consider this roughing it in the great out doors!

We all had a wonderful time. Grama took the time to give Don and I recipes and called out directions while she played with the baby, so we ate very well.

It took Mikayla a few days to adjust after Grama and Granpa left, but once again she can play by herself for a little while without having an adult staring at her and encouraging her every move! She can't wait for her next visit with Grama and Granpa!
